As a USCG Charter Captain and father of two boys and one princess, I am relentlessly passionate about facilitating safe and productive on- the-water experiences for those most impressionable and vulnerable - our children! Through on-going, curriculum-based programming, FIRST MATE ACADEMY students complete a series of courses recognized by FIRST MATE certifications. Our mission is to help students gain knowledge and obtain essential marine skills to facilitate safe and productive experiences while boating and fishing. Our goal at FIRST MATE ACADEMY is to prepare young anglers and boaters to become “Today’s Mates and Tomorrow’s Captains”.

We are Florida's only program that provides in-person training in both fishing and boating. FIRST MATE ACADEMY is the sole provider of the SAFE BOATERS ID PREP COURSE where participants experience hands-on, practical training critical to ensuring safety and preparedness for themselves and others while navigating Florida's waterways. Students gain valuable knowledge from professional Fishing Guides and Charter Captains who have a talent for working with and teaching young anglers and boaters.
